I have worked with textiles for most of my life, stitching, printing, dyeing, knitting and making clothes but when I had my first date with weaving it was love at first sight, and at first touch. Building cloth from interlacing threads is magical, each new weave has its own structure and surface and it combines texture, colour, pattern and fluidity in its own unique way.

My work is informed by the natural fibres I select and the conversation that develops between the thread, the loom and my hands and eyes as I work. The individual character of each material is allowed to take centre stage in the final cloth and I am preoccupied by both the appearance and the feel of the fabric I create, its drape, delicacy or weight. I value the subtle lustre of silk, the softness and body of wool and the crispness of linen and paper.  Treading lightly is important to me and I work with natural materials from reputable sources including traceable yarns sometimes from individual farms and deadstock or ends of lines from mills which would otherwise be destined for landfill. Any waste I create during my making is reused or composted.

Art pieces, homewares and accessories are made with care and attention to detail and are intended to accompany you in your daily life, collecting memories and perhaps scars and repairs until they are returned to the earth at the end of their useful lives.
